The World of Baseball was established in the summer of 2006 on 20 acres of perfectly manicured grounds
near the northern border of Jacksonville, Florida. Host and primary site for the
Annual World of Baseball College Tour and home to highly competitive elite showcase
teams. WOB is dedicated to player development and in a few short years gained
national notoriety as the premier baseball training program of North Florida.
Over 30 WOB players have received either college offers or professional contracts
while many others continue to develop while aspiring to advance to a higher
level. We could not have said it any better when collegiate coach and mentor, Darrell Royal
said, "Success is what happens when preparation meets opportunity." Preparation at The World of Baseball is offered on three different levels all geared for our developing athletes. Daniel Scouted Big Leaguer Wins Gold Glove !! Angels shortstop Erick Aybar has been selected to the 2011 Rawlings Gold Glove Award team, in an announcement made by the Rawlings Sporting Goods Company on an ESPN2 awards telecast. This marks the first such honor for Aybar. The Dominican native posted a .980 fielding percentage (third in the AL). Aybar committed just 13 errors in 659 total chances. He totaled 240 putouts, 406 assists and tied for the league lead being involved in 102 double plays. Aybar also posted several offensive career highs, including 30 stolen bases, the most ever by an Angel shortstop. Aybar was scouted and signed by former Angels Director of International Scouting, Clay Daniel. One of many talents brought to the 'Bigs' by Daniel, Aybar, 27, joins Orlando Cabrera (2007) and Jim Fregosi (1967) as the only shortstops in franchise history to win a Gold Glove. |
